DOWNTON ABBEY and Happy Valley cleaned up at the TV Choice Awards this evening, while Emmerdale took home the award for Best Soap.

ITV's period hit took home the award for Best Drama Series at the event, which was held inside London's Dorchester Hotel.
Sarah Lancashire was commended for her performance in Happy Valley with the Best Actress gong, while Tom Hiddleston picked up the Best Actor merit for his role in The Night Manager.
Best Daytime Show went to This Morning, who beat out the likes of Loose Women and Pointless to take the crown.

Fan favourite The Great British Bake Off was unsurprisingly celebrated on the night as Mary Berry took to the stage to collect the Best Talent Show award.
Best Entertainment Show went to Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, with the Geordie duo's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! also winning the award for Best Reality Show.
Call The Midwife won Best Family Drama, while Best New Drama went to Doctor Foster.
Emmerdale reigned victorious against EastEnders and Coronation Street as it picked up Best Soap, with cast-member Danny Miller also being honoured with the Best Soap Actor prize.

Meanwhile, EastEnders' Lacey Turner took home Best Soap Actress for her role as Stacey Fowler and Coronation Street's Shayne Ward won Best Soap Newcomer.
Other winners on the night included Game of Thrones, which took home Best International Show, Birds of a Feather, which bagged the Best Comedy gong, and Gogglebox, which won Best Lifestyle Show.
Sunday Brunch picked up Best Food Show, while Best Factual Comedy went to Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs - though that wasn't the only moment the TV presenter took to the stage that evening.
Paul was also given the honour of presenting Dame Barbara Windsor with arguably the biggest win on the night as the TV veteran - whose acting career spans over five decades - was celebrated with the Outstanding Contribution to Television award.
