NEV SCHULMAN seemingly revealed today that his hugely popular television series Catfish has been cancelled.
The stars of Catfish: the TV show
A tweet appeared on the TV star’s Twitter page stating: "We are breaking up. Catfish is no longer."
Fans of the series immediately went into panic mode, rapidly tweeting Schulman to ask for more information on the matter than just his flippant tweet.
“Did Nev just confirm that Catfish has been cancelled??” someone frantically typed.
“Please please be joking,” another posted.
However, despite the circumstances still being a little unclear, it would seem that the 31-year-old host of the show had his social media account hacked.

Hey guys it seems like my Twitter was hacked by some real class act comedians
About an hour after the tweet appeared, it was deleted. A replacement was posted to the contrary stating that “Catfish is alive and well! As is my bromance with @maxjoseph”.
Schulman was referring to his Catfish co-star Max Joseph whose account had been hacked also.
Joseph, 34, had posted on his own Twitter page earlier in the day that his account had been infiltrated after he tweeted some comments about presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“Hey guys it seems like my Twitter was hacked by some real class act comedians. Please ignore last few comments. Just deleted them,” he posted, followed later on by: “Looks like my Twitter acct got hacked bc I posted some #TrumpSoPoor tweets."

Nev's career has taken off massively since charting his own catfish experience in a documentary

The official Catfish Twitter account then retweeted Schulman’s clarification also, helping fans to relax.
“Glad to hear it! I knew you were probably hacked, but I was still worried,” one fan posted, with another typing: “OMG thank goodness I almost cried.”
Catfish - rather ironically - follows Schulman and Joseph as they track people around America who are deceiving people with fake social media profiles.
The series originated from a one-off documentary of the same name, in which Schulman charted his own experience with a so-called catfish.
The TV series is now in its fifth season.
