EastEnders: Will Peggy Mitchell take her own life after cancer diagnosis?
EASTENDERS' Peggy Mitchell appeared to hint tonight that she will voluntarily end her own life after being told her cancer was terminal.
EastEnders' Peggy is adamant her cancer won't have the last word
She was seen in Tuesday night's episode deciding to end her course of treatment after doctors told her the disease had spread throughout her body.
However, after son Phil Mitchell reacted badly to the news, she was seen implying that she will take matters into her own hands.
When he told her she was the "strongest woman" he knows, adding that he didn't want to see her become weak, she defiantly told him that that wasn't part of her plan.
"Cancer's not going to have the last word. I am," she said, cueing the soap's iconic cliffhanger sound.
Peggy Mitchell will soon die in EastEnders
Phil Mitchell was devastated
"DON'T DO AN ETHEL. #EastEnders," one fan tweeted, referencing a similar storyline from the 1990s.
"Peggy's gonna ask for help to die isn't she," someone else speculated.
A third person asked: "Is she gonna do voluntary euthanasia ??? #Eastenders".
"Wait! What?! Suicide? Peggy? #EELastOrders #EastEnders," another poster asked.
Barbara Windsor is back for one final time
Peggy's (Barbara Windsor) emotional final scenes will air on Tuesday.
EastEnders continues tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.
