FROM the melodious voice of Radio 4 Woman’s Hour presenter Jenni Murray to the bouncy tones of Radio 1’s Gemma Cairney, Radio Times is looking for Britain’s best loved radio voice.

The magazine’s shortlist of 20 men and 20 women is published in the latest edition, out today.
Finalists were chosen by a panel of experts, including Jeremy Vine from Radio 2, Eddie Mair from Radio 4, Nick Ferrari from LBC and Radio Times radio editor Jane Anderson.
The panel were not allowed to nominate themselves, however three of them – John Humphrys, Eddie Mair and Gemma Cairney – made it on to the voting paper, courtesy of other panellists.

The shortlists are a mix of well-known voices and some lesser-known suggestions from digital stations and radio drama.

Jane Anderson said: “The rules are simple.
"We’re not looking for the cleverest presenter, the most groundbreaking reporter or a relentlessly accurate weather forecaster.

“Which radio voice can’t you resist?
“Read the shortlist and pick your favourite three men and three women in order of how much you love them.”
