HE ANNOUNCED his shock exit from The X Factor earlier this month, after just one-year as a judge, but now Nick Grimshaw has defended his decision to leave the hit ITV talent show.

The Radio 1 DJ has claimed his decision to depart the series is because it was something he only "wanted to do once".
Speaking a the ELLE Style Awards - which was held at the Tate Britain in London last night - Nick said: "It was one of those things that I thought about over Christmas when I had some time off, and I thought that it was one of those things that I just definitely wanted to do once."
He enthused: “And I loved it, and I’ll miss it I guess, but I think whoever does it next, they’re going to have the best time, because it’s really, really fun.”
The 31-year-old's comments come shortly after he revealed he had quit The X Factor on his BBC breakfast show.

Nick previously said: "I did love it, it's not a diss to the show, it's not me storming out of X Factor being like 'screw you Cheryl'! It's a great show and I loved it.
"You can't have a curry when you're on it on a Saturday night, because you're there… Simon promised me curry!"
Nick continued: "I genuinely loved it, there's no bad blood. I just want to watch it on the telly."

Nick's choice to step down from the series was quickly followed by that of show presenters Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, who announced their exit in short succession.
Although nothing has yet been confirmed, famous faces such as Louis Tomlinson, Louis Walsh and George Michael have been rumoured to replace Nick on the judging panel.
