WATCH: Disaster on This Morning as reading dogs FAIL literacy test
THE perils of live television struck today’s edition of This Morning after a pair of supposedly genius pets proved to be anything but that.
The dog on This Morning not doing what it is supposed to
Hosts Ruth Langsford and Rylan Clark were left red-faced after the dogs, who had been specially trained to read, appeared to fail a literacy test.
Labrador Fernie and cockapoo Teasel, along with their owners, appeared on the ITV breakfast programme to demonstrate their skills.
Unfortunately, it appeared that the two canines got camera shy when they were asked to perform on the spot.
“I was watching this earlier, this is amazing,” Rylan, 27, told viewers. But he spoke too soon as the dogs refused to do what they were told.

Fernie was up first and was awoken from his sleep to do a spin, however the pooch didn’t want to play ball and instead stretched out on the rug.
The trainer tried again but this time Fernie decided to sit instead of spinning around.
Teasel was up next but fared equally as poorly and ended up getting distracted by the other people in the studio.
The pair have been trained to help primary school children read by sitting with them.

The dogs managed to perform in pre-recorded footage
After the pair’s disastrous performance, viewers were shown pre-recorded footage of the animals successfully doing the stunts.
The pooches are usually able to read signs and obey, including the commands of sit, spin and roll over.
They are part of the charity Dogs Helping Kids, which was founded in the early Noughties.
This Morning is on ITV1 on weekdays at 10.30am.
