Ruth, 55, was joined instead by Ben Shephard for today’s programme, but opened the show with an update on Eamonn’s recovery.
“It went very well,” she said. “It happened yesterday morning. It took a little bit longer than they thought.
“His face was very scared when he went in. It’s a big operation but it went very well.”
Explaining that he can now lift up both legs while lying down, she continued: “He lifted his legs, which he hasn’t been able to do for years. It was amazing.

“They tried to get him up last night [but] when he stood up he got a bit dizzy.”
Joking with Ben that the care her husband is getting is so good that he won’t want to come home, she added: “He was very chirpy and he’s being very well looked after. He’s not going to be rushing home!
“Thank you so much for all of your messages. So many messages came in here. It’s really kind of you to take the time.”
In good humour, Eamonn jokily criticised Ruth yesterday for her tweet about his recovery.
