Deirdre's funeral: Coronation Street viewers mourn for soap matriarch
CORONATION STREET fans have been mourning for Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride) after the residents bid farewell to the soap matriarch.
Ken mourns for Deirdre but it still furious at Tracy
The Street came to stand still as the funeral procession took Deirdre to her final resting place. But there was plenty of reminiscing about Deirdre with Liz McDonald (Bev Callard) and Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) describing the trio of ladies as the "Three Musketeers".
Meanwhile Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) was getting a frosty reception from her father Ken (Bill Roache) after he found that Deirdre had left the street because of her daughter's affair with Tony Stewart (Terence Maynard).
Simon seemed to finally appear upset over his grandmother's death, only managing to croak "my grandma's dead" when someone asked him how he is feeling.
Actress Anne, 60, passed away earlier in January after suffering from breast cancer and a funeral was held shortly afterwards.
A memorial was held at Manchester Cathedral in May where the cast and crew from the long-running soap to remember Anne.
Tonight Coronation Street fans shared their sadness at the death of Anne's character on Twitter.

Russell Truran wrote: "If selfish was an Olympic sport you'd be stood on a podium every four years." So glad they're putting humour into tonight's #Corrie.

Another used called Kate wrote on the social media platform: "Even at a sombre moment such as this, #corrie still delivers the one liners!"
