Natural World: Living With Baboons
BIOLOGIST Mat Pines has become so close to the wild Hamadryas Baboons of Ethiopia they even pick the nits from his hair.
He’s been studying and living with them for five years in the remote Awash National Park.
In his final year Pines (left) follows the fortunes of his favourite baboon, Critical, as he tries to find a family and fend off
male rivals.
The baboons also have a shared enemy in the gun-toting Afar tribe and Pines hopes to broker a truce before he leaves.
