Live Golf: The Open Championship
HAZEL Irvine presents live action from the 140th Open at Sandwich in Kent.
Royal St George’s first played host to the championship 117 years ago when England’s John Henry Taylor shot an 84 in the first round but still went on to lift the Claret Jug.
Last year Rory McIlroy took centre stage. The Northern Irishman opened with a 63 but could not sustain the momentum, losing out to Louis Oosthuizen. McIlroy has since made a major breakthrough and is after the South African’s title.
