‘Best series to stream’ is ‘perfect’ and hits screens on Monday
The British series has been receiving good reviews ahead of its release next week.

If you need a new show that is guaranteed to be good, this comedy series that starts next week might just be what you are looking for.
Alice and Steve is an upcoming British comedy television series that was created by Sophie Goodhart and is directed by Tom Kingsley. It features Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement in starring roles.
The series' synopsis reads: "Alice and Steve is an anti-romantic British comedy-drama that centres on a lifelong friendship that completely unravels when middle-aged Steve (Jemaine Clement) begins dating Alice’s 26-year-old daughter, Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith). Desperate to end the relationship, Alice (Nicola Walker) goes to extreme measures, leading their once-perfect friendship to devolve into a bitter, hilarious feud."

The series has already been met with reviews ahead of its early-June release.
Angie Han of the Hollywood Reporter described the series as "sharp" and added: "What does surprise about Hulu’s Alice and Steve, however, is the poignancy of the emotion behind it. Perfectly encapsulated by Walker’s barnburner of a performance, it lasts long after Alice’s rage has sputtered out."
The Guardian highlighted Alice and Steve in its listing of "the seven best shows to stream this week".
Phil Harrison of the Guardian wrote: "There’s a brilliantly cringe take on intergenerational romance in this comedy starring Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement as the titular middle-aged best friends. Their relationship is shattered when Steve accidentally falls for Alice’s 26-year-old daughter Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith). Alice and Steve (created by Sex Education writer Sophie Goodhart) rightly doesn’t shy away from the messiness of the whole scenario and instead leans into it with great relish."

Lucy Buglass of techradar said: "If you are willing to suspend your disbelief, there's plenty of fun to be had here. Nicola Walker never disappoints, and she does a great job here as a scorned mother and friend, absolutely horrified by the situation. Alice is a very well-rounded character who makes some childish decisions throughout the series, but given everything that's happening, it's easy to still feel sorry for her."
Alice and Steve will be available to watch on Disney Plus from Monday.
