Sky News viewers have slammed David Lammy after he urged Elon Musk to focus on issues in the United States as opposed to the murder of Henry Nowak. The release of bodycam footage showing Nowak's final moments sparked violent protests across Southampton after it revealed police handcuffed the 18-year-old while he lay dying on the ground.
Despite telling police that he had been stabbed and couldn't breathe, Nowak was arrested and read his rights, while his killer, Vickrum Digwa, claimed he had been the victim of a racist attack. The footage has sparked a wave of political reaction across the UK, with Musk among those criticising the police's handling of the incident. He wrote: "Send the video to everyone you know showing how heinously Nowak was treated by the police in his dying moments and how the police cravenly kowtowed to his murderer.

"Legacy mainstream media, same ones who wrote about George Floyd millions of times, are dead silent about Nowak."
Appearing on Sky News, the deputy prime minister criticised the tech billionaire for constantly commenting on Nowak's death and accused him of "exploiting" the situation.
He said: "I think there's an IPO this week in the States on Starling, Elon Musk should get on with that. Tweeting over 100 times about this tragic, horrific case. Anyone who has seen the video, it's so harrowing and appalling.
"I've got two teenage sons, my heart goes out to the Nowak family. Let us not exploit their situation. They have asked for calm. They have asked for us to look closely at the issues around knife crime. Let us respect them."
Lammy added: "Elon Musk, I think he should stay out of this complex, but painful situation for that family."
His remarks about Musk sparked outrage online, with one social media user branding him "car crash Lammy".

Another fumed: "Amazing, it’s ok for Starmer to talk about the Nowak issue non stop and it’s not political but if anyone else does it is!"
A third said: "He had plenty to say about George Floyd. If he can comment on events in the USA, then Musk can comment about events here."
A fourth echoed: "But it’s OK for George Soros, Bill Gates, the WEF & ex American presidents to be involved when it suits Labour or the left. Yet more two-tier politics."
Slamming the politician, another raged: "Who is Lammy or media to tell anyone to 'stay out of it'? It's an atrocity viewed worldwide, and anyone can express as they wish. This is a laughable attempt at deflection & censorship to escape accountability."
A sixth agreed: "We are becoming the laughing stock of the world, and it’s this sort of deflection from the real problems that causes it. Stop stressing about Musk and sort out our problems. Most of the country is not even on X to see his posts."
