Police dramas are far from finished, as this gritty London crime series continues to hold its own against the very best with a flawless 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Fans of Line of Duty will be delighted to get stuck into this London-based detective TV series, with six full series available to binge-watch.

Unforgotten is a British crime drama that first burst onto screens back in 2015 and has since enjoyed a remarkable run on television. The show centres on a team of detectives operating in London, led by DCI Cassie Stuart across the first four series and DI Sunny Khan, as they tackle cases of both disappearance and murder throughout the capital.

Nicola Walker took on the lead role, later joined by Sinéad Keenan alongside Sanjeev Bhaskar, before a change of characters for the final series saw Keenan step into Walker's shoes as Bhaskar's new partner, DCI Jessie James.

Viewers remain utterly hooked on Unforgotten, as each series tackles a brand-new case, introducing what appear to be entirely unconnected characters who, as the episodes progress, are revealed to share some connection to the victim. As the mystery gradually unravels, the show explores the profound emotional impact the crime has on all those involved, leaving audiences deeply moved.

One review reads: "Whoa. I feel wrung out after watching that. Not light entertainment, but top-drawer, if harrowing, stuff." Meanwhile another fan shared: "Very moving and well done in every respect: acting, writing, and filming. Definitely some sad stories here but told with empathy and heart. The plot features a twist that surprises but that also makes perfect sense."

It appears the programme continued to deliver precisely what audiences craved, with its second season achieving a 100% rating on the review site, alongside the third, while the fourth series dips only marginally with a remarkable 93%.

One review reads: "Masterpiece Theatre's Unforgotten Season 2 was intense, heartbreaking and amazing all at the same time. The writing for the series is spectacular. The story drew me in and kept me engaged until the end... which blew me away with how thought-provoking and touching it was."

The programme has garnered widespread praise, including BAFTA TV nominations, when Tom Courtenay secured the award for Best Supporting Actor, the same accolade that Mark Bonnar claimed the following year.

However, it appears that audiences were split by the character changes in later seasons, which attracted less attention from TV fans.

This is largely attributed to the connection viewers felt they had formed with Stuart as the series chronicles her own personal life, featuring relationship and family tensions and the unrelenting pressure of her job.

With this in mind, a viewer wrote: "I am not connecting well with Nicola Walker's replacement, unfortunately. I am finding series 5 difficult to stay interested in. "

Every episode across all six series of Unforgotten is currently available to watch on ITVX.
