Ahead of the new series of Death in Paradise, show bosses confirmed that Ginny Holder would not be appearing in series 15. Ginny played beloved police officer Darlene Curtis for seven years before announcing her departure.

In a recent post, the show revealed Ginny's off-screen exit from the series, after Darlene's absence was also noted in the Death in Paradise Christmas special, as she only appeared via video link.

Alongside a montage of clips of Darlene's time on the show, the post read, " Sadly, we're saying goodbye to Darlene this series. Ginny Holder has been a much-loved cast member, and we're hugely grateful to her for bringing her talent, personality and energy to Officer Darlene Curtis."

Hinting at a potential return, it concluded, "We wish her all the best - maybe we'll catch up with her in Saint Marie down the line!"

The actress herself also took to social media to thank her loyal fans. She said, "Thank you so much to the BBC and Red Planet Pictures for giving me the absolute gift of playing Darlene. I loved her deeply, and saying goodbye to her has been far more emotional than I ever expected — I really do miss her.

"Thank you to the incredible cast and crew of Death in Paradise — such a talented, kind, and joyful group of people. Working alongside you all has been a privilege and a pleasure, and I’ll cherish those memories forever.

"And a very special thank you to James Hall for writing such an amazing character. Darlene truly lifted straight off the page, and I’m so grateful to have been her voice."

She concluded the post, "And finally, the biggest thank you to the fans. Your love and support for Darlene has meant the world to me. Being nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the TV Times Awards was honestly so humbling, and I’m beyond grateful. Big love to you all, you’ve made this journey unforgettable."

Fans were left gutted by Darlene's exit, with many voicing their thoughts on social media. "Can't believe you won't be returning. You have truly been awesome, Ginny! No one cheered louder when Selwyn asked Darlene to join the Saint Marie," one fan said.
