One Emmerdale star has confirmed she is moving on to a “new chapter” after being killed off on the ITV soap.
Suzy Merton, played by Martelle Edinborough, met her grisly end in a limousine crash on Monday night (February 17).
Vanessa Woodfield was left devastated as her girlfriend was killed on impact – before the rest of the gang had to stumble across an icy lake to get to safety.
Amy Barton plunged under the ice and discovered another dead body, with her own fate hanging in the balance, while Liam Cavanagh collapsed with a head injury.
But for Martelle, 46, it’s the end of her ITV soap journey. She confirmed to fans: “And just like that… Suzy is no more and a new chapter begins! What an ep!

“It’s been such a blessing to have been a part of such an iconic show that I grew up on and loved by so many.” She added the hashtag #journeys before confessing that she had “known for a minute” about Suzy’s demise.
One fan gushed in response: “I’m so sad you’re leaving, you kept that quiet! So much love and positivity in your future, you are going far babes.”
Martelle replied: “Thank you so much lovely, and trust me it’s been hard! Haha I’ve known for a minute lol.”

She added: “It really was time, got too much I wanna achieve after a crazy few years,” telling fans to “watch this space” for her next move.
Suzy wasn’t Martelle’s first foray into the soap world, as she also played an unnamed doctor in Emmerdale back in 2018. She’s appeared in eight episodes of Coronation Street as various side characters, and in three episodes of Hollyoaks as Doctor Keely back in 2019.
