If you want to save on your Disney+ subscription, buying an annual plan is a no-brainer. With plans starting at £79.90, you'll get 12 months for the price of 10 and you'll be shielded from any price rises for the entire year.

Disney+ has revealed plans to hike the prices of certain membership tiers, however, there’s a way for subscribers to avoid the increase and secure a discount for an entire year. The streamer from the House of Mouse offers a range of subscriptions tailored to suit various needs and budgets, with significant savings available for customers who opt for its annual plans.

In addition to its monthly subscriptions – now starting at £4.99 for the Standard with Ads plan – Disney+ offers annual ad-free Standard and Premium plans, providing members with 12 months for the price of 10 compared to paying monthly. However, later this month, Disney+ is raising the price of its annual Standard plan, The Mirror reports.

The current cost of the annual Standard plan is £79.90, offering a saving of £15.98 compared to the monthly rate of £7.99. Disney+ has confirmed that from October 17 the annual plan will rise to £89.90, reducing the saving to £5.98.

Telly fans can still secure the current rate by subscribing by October 16, locking in the current £79.90 subscription for a full year of streaming top titles from Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and more. Disney+ has not announced any changes to its Premium plan, which currently costs £109.90 annually and includes additional perks including higher video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, Dolby Atmos support, the ability to stream on four devices at once and download titles for offline viewing.

Opting for the annual Premium plan saves £21.98 compared to the monthly payment of £10.99 – the biggest saving currently available on Disney+. With the price hike potentially deterring new customers, it’s always advisable to explore other streaming platforms that offer attractive money-saving deals and free trials.

One such platform is Amazon’s Prime Video, which offers an annual subscription for £95 – £5.10 more than the new rate of Disney’s Standard plan. However, Amazon Prime members receive much more value for money as Prime comes with a host of additional benefits.

Besides the opportunity to stream exclusive shows like The Boys, The Rings of Power and hit films like Challengers, Prime members also enjoy next day delivery on eligible Amazon purchases, free streaming on Amazon Music Prime, Deliveroo Plus, and free delivery on HelloFresh orders for a year. Amazon is also preparing for its upcoming site-wide sales event, Prime Big Deal Days, on October 8-9, with big discounts on thousands of items exclusively for Prime members.

Prime members can expect to bag significant savings on a wide range of products, from tech to homeware, from brands such as Shark, Microsoft, Braun, Philips and Ghd, along with up to 50 percent off Amazon’s Echo devices. Bargain hunters can take part in the Big Deal Days event with an Amazon Prime 30-day free trial, allowing them to sample everything Prime has to offer for a month before making a long-term commitment.

Sky also frequently updates its offers and has just slashed the price of its packed TV and broadband package by £12 a month, touting it as the ‘lowest ever price’. Typically costing £52, the Sky Stream, Sky TV, Netflix and Full Fibre 300 bundle is now available for £40, saving members £288 over the 24-month contract and including access to more than 200 TV channels, a free Netflix subscription, and super-fast fibre broadband with speeds up to 300Mbps.
