Preview for Succession season 4, episode 9

Brian Cox-led horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe is currently streaming for free on Netflix, and you won’t want to miss it.

It was first released in cinemas in 2016 from Norwegian director André Øvredal, known for Trollhunter and, more recently, The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

The Succession star co-leads with Emile Hirsch as father-son coroners who attempt to analyse the death of an unidentified woman (played by Olwen Kelly).

They’re quickly wrapped in a chilling mystery when they realise the young corpse is harboring dark secrets.

The fresh supernatural horror has scored rave reviews from critics, and it currently sits comfortably at 86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflix added the film on September 1 in the UK and Ireland, making it the perfect late-evening watch now the nights are starting to draw in.

It will hopefully stay on the service for some time, making it a perfect addition to your Halloween movie marathons.

Don’t just take our word for it, though; fans and critics alike have highlighted The Autopsy of Jane Doe as one of the best horrors of the 2010s.

The Wrap called it “a cut above most horror flicks, especially the jump-scare-heavy fare that tends to be dumped into multiplexes this time of year.”

The New York Times said: “Gruesome without being gory, The Autopsy of Jane Doe achieves real scares with a minimum of special effects.”

And Empire wrote: “Creates a successful feeling of mounting dread punctuated by crashing thunder and surgical viscera.”

Over on Twitter, fans have still enjoyed discovering this riveting horror gem well into the 2020s.

“Andre Øvredal’s brilliant The Autopsy of Jane Doe is back on @NetflixUK,” one viewer said.

And a final fan added: “I've seen this movie multiple times and it is still brilliant & scary.
