Coronation Street fans spot huge issue with Lauren's return and fume 'it makes no sense'
Coronation Street's Lauren Bolton made her epic return this week despite being presumed dead - but fans have spotted a major issue.
Coronation Street fans have spotted a major issue as Lauren Bolton made her epic return. Viewers will recall Lauren (played by Cait Fitton) disappeared from the famous cobbles after losing her job at Roy's Rolls. The blonde bombshell terrified her friends and family when they failed to find her.
Cops were soon called to search her flat where they found evidence of a struggle and a bloodied weapon on the floor. Until now, viewers were convinced that this was the murder weapon that killed the teen.
Her former boss Roy Cropper (David Nielson) immediately became their number one suspect and he was charged with her murder and remanded in prison until his trial. DC Swain (Vicky Myers) became convinced that the fan-favourite had paid her for sex before murdering her in a fit of rage.
Luckily for Roy, sex trafficker Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) was ultimately held responsible for her murder after he was set up by bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
It wasn't until last month that viewers discovered that sleazy solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) was behind the teen's disappearance.
And during Monday’s episode (July 7) it was revealed that Lauren is actually alive - and has been in hiding. The youngster showed up at Roy’s bedside at the hospital, following his heart attack earlier in the day.
However, fans have been left fuming over Lauren’s return. Confused, plenty were left wondering why Lauren didn’t return when Roy was arrested and sent to jail.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “So Lauren's been in hiding for months, only coming out because Roy is in hospital? Why the f**k did she not come out when he was in prison?”

Someone else added: “Roy is so important to her, but not important enough to get him out of Prison.”
A third penned: “I groaned when Lauren showed up at the hospital! Why now? It's a stupid storyline that's dragged on for ages.”
Another chimed in and wrote: “Omg please end this storyline, it makes no sense. So Lauren turns up alive which we all knew wasn't dead, but why didn’t she show up to clear Roy when he was in prison?”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
