Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick tells owner it has all gone 't*** up'

In a recent episode of Channel 4's The Supervet, viewers watched as Noel Fitzpatrick attempted to assist seven-month-old Milo after numerous failed surgeries. During the programme, it was revealed that the pup's owners, Paul and Sandra, travelled to see Noel via private jet.

Paul mentioned how Milo had leapt off a bed resulting in an injury weeks back. He'd been treated by vets in Spain initially, where a cast had been placed on the poor creatures leg.

In a revelation, Sandra indicated that soon after, they realised the joint wasn't right due to a protruding bolt.

Elaborating, she continued: "They reoperated and after about a week, the same thing happened. Third time we took him back, it all went wrong again."

Paul cut short her narration, revealing that they then sought another specialist's opinion, who deemed the entire circumstance a "disaster", reports the Mirror.

Trying to find the top surgeon for Milo, they came across Noel and flew right over to his veterinary practice.

But even the supervet couldn't help being shocked when he examined Milo himself. As Paul summarised the unfortunate sequence of multiple failed operations Milo underwent, he reiterated: "It's a complete disaster."

To which Noel responded: "Any surgeon can fail, any surgery can fail. This gentleman has done his best, but it has all gone t**s up."

Upon palpating the afflicted leg, Noel concurred that both the bone and screw were indeed poking out, generating such discomfort for Paul that he had trouble witnessing it.

The owners were visibly stressed as Paul admitted he would've gone directly to Noel if he had known about the star's expertise sooner.

Ultimately, the team opted to fuse the badly damaged elbow with a bespoke plate construct after removing the previous implants, which was the initial recommendation from the ethics review.

But as the episode drew to a close, the vets discovered an issue with Milo's leg post-fusion surgery.

Noel explained the unfortunate situation, saying: "Unfortunately, there is no surgery that does not have potential complications. This is a recognised complication of elbow fusion."

He elaborated that as Milo's elbow was healing in a fused state, the stress transferred up the arm, causing a crack before it could sufficiently remodel.

In a subsequent operation, the supervet had to intervene again on Milo to prevent the fissure from becoming a full fracture. By adding another plate for support, the Channel 4 celebrity acknowledged they managed to assist the dog just in the nick of time.

Nine months after his initial injury from jumping off a bed, the episode concluded with an uplifting update on Milo, back in his Spanish residence, frolicking in the garden with his canine companion Buddy.

Paul expressed his relief and joy, remarking: "It's unbelievable, the weight that's been lifted off of us. To now be back in Marbella on the beach with the dogs. It's a miracle to be honest."

"Noel's 100% the best vet in the world, if anybody doesn't believe that I have the waking proof of it. We have a dog with four legs running on a beach, what more could we ask for?"

The Supervet: Noel Fitzpatrick continues Thursday’s on Channel 4 from 8pm.
