BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst issues 'breaking news' announcement

Nina Warhurst was presenting live from a fish and chip processing factory during Wednesday's instalment of BBC Breakfast.

BBC Breakfast presenters share their fish and chip orders

Nina Warhurst announced some "breaking news" following a recent episode of BBC Breakfast. The 43-year-old presenter has been a regular face on the BBC show since 2018, but regularly switches from the red sofa to fronting business segments.

During Wednesday's instalment (July 25) of BBC Breakfast, Nina visited a fish and chip processing factory in Blackpool where she shared the latest on the rise in cost of potatoes.

Jon Kay and Sally Nugent revealed the nation will be "forking out more than ever" for a portion of fish and chips, with Nina confirming a "chippy tea" now costs more than £10.

After the episode aired, Nina took to her Instagram Stories to share some exciting news with her followers. The newsreader posted an image of two of her children watching her on BBC Breakfast.

"Breaking news - my kids watched me on the telly!!!," Nina wrote in the caption. The TV star shares three children with her husband, Ed Fraser.

She is the proud mum of two boys, Digby and Michael, born in 2016 and 2018, and a daughter, Nance, who she welcomed in July 2023. It comes after Nina paid tribute to her former BBC colleague Beccy Barr following her tragic death.

Beccy, who gave up her career as a BBC presenter to become a firefighter, died aged 45 following a a year-and-a-half long battle with cancer. After Beccy's sad passing was announced, Nina shared an emotional message on X.

Reposting Beccy's sister's announcement, Nina wrote: "What I liked about Beccy was that if she wasn’t happy with something, she made a change. She got on with it.

"I love that energy in people. Hers was rare and everyone who met her felt it. Thinking of her daughter, who she absolutely adored."

On Monday (July 22), Beccy's sister shared news of her death. Alongside an image of Beccy, she said: "I’m sharing the very sad news that Beccy passed away peacefully this morning."

"She spent her last few days at @SJHospice who provided the most dignified & compassionate care to Beccy & her whole family. Donations to the hospice can be made in Beccy’s memory."

Beccy, from Lancaster, joined BBC North West Tonight as a presenter and reporter back in 2013 after a five-year career in financial news at CNBC in London.
