BBC bosses have come under fire for showing the same match at Wimbledon at the same time on BBC One and BBC Two at once.

The error meant that the seven-times Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, 37, wasn't even featured on either channel as he took on Briton Jacob Fearnley on Centre Court.

Fans complained that both of the BBC's main channels were instead focused on the action on No1 Court.

One said: "I've never seen anything like this in my life. Novak Djokovic the seven-time champion who's currently playing on Centre Court and the match is nowhere to be seen. Mind-boggling."

Another said: "On BBC 1 and 2 just now it’s the same Wimbledon match. They even missed the start of Jacob Fearnley v Djokovic. Coverage is all over the place."

A third added: "@BBCSport why has BBC 1 and 2 got the same match on at Wimbledon?"

The Express has asked the BBC for a comment.

Novak defeated Scottish tennis player Jacob in four sets on Centre Court, which meant that he's reached the third round of Wimbledon.

Speaking about his victory, Novak said: "First and foremost, huge congrats to Jacob Fearnley for an amazing match today. He put in a great effort and played very good tennis.

"I didn't have a chance to see him play. Actually two days ago, I saw him for the first time. Obviously there’s always an element of surprise and nothing to lose, him playing in Wimbledon, always going to be tough.

"Most of the British players grow up being exposed to grass courts, quick surfaces, so they know exactly how to play. [It's a] very windy day, very challenging conditions and I thought he served very well."

Meanwhile, Britons Cam Norrie and Jack Draper are up against eachother on Court One.

Draper, who is the British Number One, has recently wowed fans after winning his title in Stuttgart and beating Carlos Alcaraz at Queen's.

Meanwhile, Norrie made the 2022 Wimbledon semi-final but lost to Novak Djokovic in four sets after being a set up.

In other news, 32nd seed Katie Boulter was defeated by fellow British player Harriet Dart in a shock upset. The world number 94 came back to win the match when she fell 6-2 down in the breaker.

Wimbledon is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
