Emmerdale: Mack saves Charity as the car falls off the cliff

Emmerdale legend Emma Atkins has shared her thoughts on Charity Dingle reuniting with Cain Dingle.

The fan favourite is currently married to Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and the couple are getting on with life after she cheated on her and had a baby with Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) last year.

During a recent Emmerdale press event, when asked if Charity's relationship with Mack is going well, Emma replied: "Yeah, probably that's why we haven't been doing much stuff because we’re on an even keel.

"It's quite good, it’s comfortable and steady. It’s quite functional which is unheard for Charity but it's allowed us all to have a bit of a breather.

"In fact, we’ve been blessed with two years of awesome and consistent storylines so I think we're just doing our own thing. Mack is doing a lot with Aaron [Dingle, played by Danny Miller] so it’s been good to do some Dingle stuff."

Fans will remember that Chairty once had an incestious fling with her cousin Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) back in the early 2000s and he's the father of her daughter Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb). Cain is also married to Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), Mackenzie's older sister.

Opening up on whether or not she'd like bosses to revisit Charity and Cain's romance, Emma admitted: "Wouldn’t it be nice. I do love the old school Cain and Charity but we all know that time moves on and I do love the Moira/Cain chemistry.

"It’s brilliant because they are both different and work as a Yin and Yang but with Charity and Cain, there's that level that there’d be too much friction because they are from a similar stock where as Moira has that morally upstanding nature and I wouldn’t want to change their dynamic but I would love to work with Jeff and Nat Robb."

Charity is set to take centre stage as she becomes suspicious of Belle Dingle's (Eden Taylor-Draper) relationship with husband Tom King (James Chase).

She said: "Charity starts to notice behavioural changes in Belle. She seems a lot more closed off, she doesn't really want to socialise with her friends or family and she's home a lot at Tom and whenever she's out in the street she's always with Tom and Charity is like 'you're never on your own, Belle'.

"She's started to let her know that she's picking up this vibe that something may potentially be wrong but she knows at first she's got to play it as this subtle game. She teases little things out of Belle but not enough to know so she decides to plan a girly night.

"She goes to see Chas and Lydia and says 'I feel something is not right and I want to get to the bottom of it and at this point suspicions of Tom's behaviour is ramping up."

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
