BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty red-faced in blunder and says 'I'll start again'

On Saturday's edition of BBC Breakfast, Naga Munchetty hosted alongside Charlie Stayt but experienced an on-air blunder during one segment.

Breakfast: Naga Munchetty announces the wrong time

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty experienced an on-air mishap as she made an awkward slip whilst attempting to read the time. The blunder occured on Saturday morning (June 8) and she was left rather red-faced.

After the weather segment came to a close, Naga turned to viewers and said: "Twenty minutes past time." She then realised her mistake and closed her eyes before laughing.

Turning to her co-star Charlie Stayt, she exclaimed: "Do you hear what I just said?" Charlie replied: "Well, it is twenty minutes past time in a way, isn't it? It's a little inprecise though."

Naga brushed off the blunder and said: "Shall I start again? Twenty minutes past eight is the time." They then moved onto a new news segment about cats being chipped.

During Thursday's edition of BBC Breakfast, Naga experienced another live blunder as she presented in the studio by herself whilst co-star Charlie was reporting from Ver-Sur-Mer in Normandy.

As Charlie was about to start his segment about the D-Day celebrations, Naga's microphone was left on and she can be heard awkwardly saying: "Is this the last one?"

Charlie ignored the technical error and went into his presenting without any difficulties. The BBC didn't revealed what caused the glitch but some eagle-eyed viewers were quick to notice the blunder.

One person quipped on X: "Enjoyed the mystery voice competition this morning. Any guesses? #BBCBreakfast." Whilst a second added: "Naga moaning? Lol #BBCBreakfast."

Naga is a regular presenter on BBC Breakfast, but last month she was notably absent for a few days and was replaced by Nina Warhurst.

The presenter gave birth to her little girl Nance last July and is now back in the studio, but usually, BBC Breakfast is fronted by the likes of Charlie Stayt, Sally Nugent, Jon Kay, or Naga Munchetty.

During her time on the sofa, fans were delighted to see Nina and were begging for her to stay on permanently. One fan gushed: "@NinaWarhurst you are the best, eating a sausage live on air is brilliant. You need to be on the red sofa every morning. Love it."

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6:30am on BBC One.
