Outlander’s Caitriona Balfe didn’t exactly know how to react when loyal fans were eager to say hello, despite the actress not wearing any clothes.
The Starz romantic drama has made Irish star Balfe into a household name as the fiery Claire Fraser who leaves the 1940s behind to be with Highlander Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan).
With the show now running for a decade, it is no longer just fans of the Diana Gabaldon book series who have fallen in love with Claire and Jamie’s story with millions of viewers tuning in every series.
So it’s unsurprising that the 44-year-old is often met with adoring fans during some unexpected moments.
One of which, Balfe described during a game with Heughan for Vanity Fair, labelling it as her “strangest” fan encounter.

The game was to see which of the Outlander co-stars knew the other better by asking them to answer various questions about their life away from the show.
The Jamie Fraser actor was asked: “What is the strangest place I’ve been recognised?”, with him questioning: “Probably like a bathroom or something?”
As she wrote down her answer, Balfe nodded and stated: “And I was very naked. Two old ladies came over to me.”
Heughan clarified if this took place at the Blue Lagoon, where it is required for guests to enter without a swimsuit, in Iceland.

Balfe replied: “Yeah, in the kind of changing rooms.”, before demonstrating what she did by covering her chest and pretending to shake people’s hands.
“It was just like: ‘OK, nice, nice. It was nice to meet you.’”
“Were they covered in mud at the time or -?””, Heughan queried. His co-star clarified: “No. They were very sweet though”, before the pair swiftly moved on.

Reports suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could receive up to $100 million for making the show, although this has been disputed and the true figure is unknown.
Outlander is currently on a break, having aired its series seven midseason finale in June 2023.
Fans had been eager to know when it would return with the cast and crew remaining tight-lipped on when part two will begin.
It has now come out that season seven’s second half is going to debut on Friday, November 22, so there is still a little while to go before fans can get their Outlander fix.
