BGT: Simon Cowell congratulates Ant on baby news and gifts update

Declan Donnelly couldn't help but make jokes as his on-screen other half, Ant Mcpartlin, became a dad for the first time.

Ant, 48, and his wife Anne-Marie, 46, welcomed son Wilder - Ant's first child - on May 14. The Geordie presenter announced the news on his Instagram account the day after as he shared an adorable black and white image of him cuddling his newborn.

He appeared to be enjoying some skin-to-skin contact with his son while showing off a large tattoo resembling his family tree on his arm. He wrote: "Born, 14/05/24 at 8.54am. Baby is beautiful, Mummy's a legend, Sisters are over the moon. Dad's a mess!"

Kicking off the first of 2024's live episodes of Britain's Got Talent on Monday evening, Ant and Dec performed a sketch which showed Dec poking fun at his friend and colleague. They were seen riding along in a black cab as Ant said: "It's finally here, the live semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent."

Grabbing a red clipboard, Dec suggested that they had everything ready before the big show. The 48-year-old said: "Hey, we should check the old checklist, make sure we've got everything."

He listed off the things on the board and added: "Nappies, baby wipes..." Before turning to Ant and saying: "Hang on - this is yours!"

Ant pretended to be mad as he snatched the clipboard back and said: "That's my list. Give it here!" The pair then revealed their real checklist which included themselves, a 'brilliant audience', dancers, and viewers at home.

Dec wasn't the only BGT star to make reference to Ant's new bundle of joy.

Head judge Simon Cowell also passed on his congratulations to the Geordie Duo.

Music mogul Simon, 64, said: "I'd like to congratulate you on becoming a dad Ant, I'm really happy for you."

The audience cheered as the Ant thanked Simon for his words and the gift he had sent him upon the arrival his baby boy.

The Britain’s Got Talent live semi-finals will air nightly at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX until Friday, May 31. The grand finale will take place on Sunday, June 2 at 7.30pm.
