A Place In The Sun presenter 'risked lives' filming episode
A Place in the Sun presenter Leah Charles-King has given an insight into the dangers of filming the Channel 4 travel show. She recently shared some treacherous behind-the-scenes footage taken during a Spanish expedition.
On Thursday (May 9), Leah took to social media to reveal she’d recently reunited with a pair of ex-house hunters in Spain. She began by writing to her 4,890 X followers: “Hey Placers! I know how much you love #aplaceinthesun behind-the-scenes news. Here’s a lil [thread emoji] for ya!”
The host attached a compilation video of herself dancing with her friends and former show guests Karen and Brian. In the clip, Leah and the couple could be seen drinking in a bar before she posed on their poolside in the blistering sunshine.
In a second post, the television personality revealed that her relationship with the semi-retired lawyer and the retired firefighter hadn’t been plain sailing. “Remember N. Irish couple Karen & Brian, who in 2022 wanted a permanent move to Vélez-Málaga?,” she wrote.
“I found them a spacious townhouse. Oh, and we practically risked our lives filming this episode for your afternoon entertainment. You’re welcome.” She accompanied the sentiment with three videos - the first being of a perilous car journey.
The clip saw Leah and the pair driving an automobile dangerously close to a mountain’s edge in the Malaga Province.
In the background of the distressing clip, the A Place in the Sun star could be heard saying: “Oh sweet God”.
After the quip earned her a raucous round of laughter, Leah continued: “It’s a lot Danny, it’s a lot to handle. Oh god if I look down there it just makes my legs go.”
She then panned the camera to Karen and Brian, who were holding onto each other in the car’s rear seat.
“Karen is literally petrified she can’t even look, poor thing,” Leah remarked.
In another clip, the broadcaster revealed that she and the couple had made it unscathed to the bottom of the mountain.

“We’re starting to breathe again,” she admitted. “I think we were both holding our breath for ages for the last 40 minutes I’m certain of it.”
Leah’s latest social media update comes after her absence on new A Place in the Sun episodes was questioned by fans.
Addressing a query, she wrote that she would “unfortunately not” appear on this series run, as per The Sun.
Replying to a fan, she wrote: "And I won’t appear in this current new run either, I’m afraid, Placers! But hopefully the next one.”
In another update, Leah admitted that she has filmed a spate of new episodes which are currently “in the bank” and will hopefully be back on screens soon.
A Place in the Sun has informed Express.co.uk that Leah will be back on air on May 29 in a brand new episode.
