While another wrote: “Listening to Radio 2 today has been so incredibly moving. The professionalism that everybody has shown while clearly all being so devastated about Steve's passing. Sending you all so much love. This was such a lovely tribute to a man that clearly touched so many people's lives.”
“I have been really upset since I heard the news yesterday. My grief has come as a surprise and has proven to me that Steve Wright (and the radio in general) has been such a companion to me most of my adult life, a lot of the time without me even realising it. Sunday morning will be particularly emotional. Have been listening to jingles too which are so very evocative and poignant. RIP Steve Wright,” penned another saddened listener.
A fourth praised the network and said: “Just wow how wonderful and so emotional...crying over a man I never met but who has been with me through out most of my adult life. Thank you, Wrighty.”
Emergency services were rushed to the Radio DJ's home in Marylebone, London on Monday, just after 10am.
