Coronation Street legend addresses decision to join Emmerdale after seven years
EXCLUSIVE: Emmerdale has already welcomed two new faces to the ITV serial drama in the past few months, including Coronation Street star Paula Lane.
Emmerdale: Acclaimed actress Paula Lane makes appearance on soap
Coronation Street star Paula Lane has opened up on her decision to join rival ITV soap Emmerdale.
Paula recently joined the cast of the soap as Ella Forster who is growing friendly with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).
The actress, who used to play Kylie Platt on rival ITV soap Coronation Street, opened up to Express.co.uk ahead of her Emmerdale debut.
The 37-year-old feels she's a "natural fit" for Emmerdale as she's from Yorkshire where the popular soap is based.
She added: "I feel like I'm going to really fit in here. It works for me family-wise as we're based in Hebdon Bridge.
"So as an actor, you know, that's brilliant. I just feel like I'm very much at home here."
Paula made her Coronation Street entrance back in 2010 as the half-sister of Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly).
She was the wife of David Platt (Jack P Shephard) but her character tragically died in 2016 when she was stabbed in Weatherfield.

Kylie died in David's arms as he sobbed his heart out during heartbreaking scenes longtime Coronation Street fans will never forget.
Since leaving Coronation Street, Paula has starred in BBC One's medical drama Call The Midwife as well as theatre productions.
Addressing moving to Emmerdale seven years after her Coronation Street exit, Paul said: "Just to create a brand-new character is what's going to be really important for me.
"I think enough time has passed to be able to branch out - it's something different."
The actress teased her character might soon be involved in a love triangle on the ITV soap - but who could it be with?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
