Mrs Brown's Boys made a return on New Year's Day with another festive instalment of the BBC comedy.

Mrs Brown's Boys left viewers divided on Monday night after the BBC comedy made a return with a New Year's Day special. However, many fans didn't find the Brendan O'Carroll series funny and took to social media to share their thoughts.
Taking to X to share their opinions about the festive instalment, @JGMooreWriter fumed: "God, that "buried it in the garden" joke is ancient. Put some effort in, Brendan. #MrsBrownsBoys." (sic)
"Why is this absolute s**t delaying the BBC news?" #MrsBrownsBoys," @terencewilton asked as @Wilfred_Diego complained: "What a terrible start to #2024 #BBC #MrsBrownsBoys."
@thomasoxley went on: "14 minutes in and still not laughed. #mrsbrownsboys used to be so funny!!." (sic)
@world_foolish stated: "2024 and still we have new Mrs f***ing Browns Boys #mrsbrownsboys." (sic)

@MattZeeMiller pleaded: "Just no no no!!! Ratings down, reviews getting worse, just going from bad to worse! Stop funding this mess @BBC #MrsBrownsBoys stop it limping on and on! Give funding to new comedy!!!" (sic)
However, not all viewers had the same opinion as @michael24377912 praised: "#MrsBrownsBoys great seeing New Year episode hopefully we get a season 5 this year just keep making them." (sic)
@JamiePrestigio1 echoed: "#MrsBrownsBoys Birdie has been a breath of fresh air for the show."
The episode saw Agnes (played by Brendan O'Carroll) and the gang starting the New Year by attempting a tough new health and fitness regime.

But while Maria (Fiona O'Carrol) and Cathy (Jennifer Gibney) worked hard to get the gang into shape, a mysterious visitor to Finglas raised some difficult questions about Agnes and Winnie's (Eilish O'Carroll) past.
In a recent interview, the actor who plays Mrs Brown defended the comedy and addressed its future as he said: "As long as the BBC keep asking, we’ll keep making episodes.
"It’s down to what the BBC wants and what we can plan around."
