Coronation Street fans are calling for ITV bosses to "write out" Craig Tinker who is played by 24-year-old Colson Smith.
Taking to Twitter, Christopher Anstey said: "He was OK when he was an awkward kid with a rat, but he is completely useless as an adult character." (sic)
Another user shared: "Terrible character. Can’t understand why they didn’t write him out along with the equally tedious Faye [Windass]. I suppose it’s useful having a police character as a regular with so many crime-related stories."
Chloe Jones said: "One of an alarming number of Corrie characters who went stale years ago but just cling on, and on, and on…" (sic)
@Corriepodcast wrote: "Really wish they'd gone with the bent copper angle just to give the character something interesting."
However, Victoria Jones remarked: "I think he does the best with what he’s given. He’s a natural talent, particularly gifted as a child. I’d not like to see him go."
Andrew added: "One can argue that the soaps generally represent the police well given the many, many issues the police have - understaffed, less experienced, some are even criminals themselves."
Colson made his Coronation Street debut at the tender age of 12 back in 2011 as the son of Beth Sutherland (played by Lisa George) and criminal Darryl Parkins (Paul Loughran).
