Coronation Street Lisa Swain ‘didn’t kill Joel’ as fans ‘expose’ true killer in huge twist

Coronation Street enthusiasts believe they have cracked the mystery surrounding Joel Deering's death, and it doesn't point to DS Lisa Swain.

Solicitor Joel Deering, portrayed by Calum Lill, initially appeared as a positive character but his 'true' nature was exposed over time. It was disclosed that he had been grooming and abusing young girls for years, including Lauren Bolton, played by Cait Fitton.

His former fiance Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) pledged to bring him to justice.

However, the plot took a suspicious twist this week. In Monday's episode (September 30), Dee-Dee received a voice message from Joel suggesting he was contemplating suicide. She later shared this with Lisa Swain, who managed to trace Joel's last known location.

Lisa, along with Kit (Jacob Roberts), discovered a suicide note in his abandoned car at the site. Back on the cobbles, Lisa relayed the news of Joel's apparent suicide to the other residents, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Dee-Dee, however, was convinced that Joel hadn't taken his own life and even visited his last known location herself to uncover the truth. She found another covered car in the same field and urged Lisa to investigate further.

Now, fans are speculating that Joel was actually murdered by an unexpected resident. After picking up on a 'clue', viewers are sharing their theories online about how Joel met his end.

Coronation Street fans have been speculating wildly on a Corrie Facebook fan page, questioning peculiar actions of the character Dee-Dee Bailey. During an unsettling moment in the recent episode, she was seen staring fixedly at water flowing from a tap.

"What's wrong with Dee Dee," one viewer asked, while another suggested: "I think dee dee has done something to Joel."

Speculation flared up about foul play when a third penned: "She was mesmerised by the water running from the kitchen tap! " Theories escalated when one person pondered whether she had "drowned him?" and another declared: "That would be a twist!"

Meanwhile, suspicion also casts its shadow over Lisa Swain, with another fan proposing a dark theory. They surmised that Lisa could be behind Joel's death, saying: "Joel has either come across or threatened Betsy the night before, swains found him and they've had an altercation and it's ended in Joel's death and Kit either was involved or saw it so now is helping cover it up."
