'Ukraine should be of concern!' Nick Ferrari highlights 'wake up call' on Boris partygate
NICK FERRARI argued the revelation Boris Johnson missed a call with Vladimir Putin because of the partygate scandal should be a "wake up call" to the British public.
Nick Ferrari: Ukraine situation is a 'wake up call'
Boris Johnson was forced to cancel his call with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the Prime Minister was preoccupied with updating the House of Commons following the publication of Sue Gray’s partygate report. On Tuesday’s This Morning, Nick Ferrari gave his damning view on the news of the phone call amid growing fears Russia plans to invade Ukraine.
Vanessa Feltz and Ferrari joined Rochelle Humes and Alison Hammond on the ITV show.
Ferrari questioned whether the British public was more worried about the Sue Gray report or other international and domestic concerns.
He remarked: “This is the key, are your viewers, when they got up this morning, are they worried about a Prime Minister who inadvertently misled the house?
“Or are they worried about their energy bills or are they more worried about inflation?

“Are they more worried about Ukraine? That’s the game the Government has to blame.
“And are they worried about beating Covid where England actually has quite a successful story to tell?”
Rochelle noted the Government are “scrambling to reorganise a phone between Johnson and Putin” after partygate “disrupted Boris’ schedule”.
“I still find there are many people who are exceptionally emotionally engaged in this particular partygate story,” Feltz argued.
“They haven’t forgotten it, they’re not bored by it,” she continued.
“I’ve just taken a call from a woman this morning who said, ‘I had to give birth alone, my partner couldn’t be there, I was all alone, it was devastating.'
“That level, ‘I couldn’t go to my father’s funeral’ ‘I couldn’t sit with my mother in a care home’ and those people are not going to snap out of it and they’re not going to be bored because they are so upset, they are so distraught.
“It’s a very significant thing for them it’s not just cake, it’s not just sandwiches, it’s much more.

Humes remarked: “We’ve had enough of the excuses I think that’s what I’m getting to. We’ve had enough of the, ‘Sorry, but…’”
“To Vanessa’s point,” Ferrari infected. “This will not go away because of the personal investment.
“The woman who had the child, the people who didn’t say goodbye to grandma.
“There is a personal investment and if it wasn’t like that, if we hadn’t been kept away by dying relatives, it wouldn’t be so acute.”

“But to your point, we are moving towards a very frightening situation in Ukraine,” he noted,
“And it should be your concern that a scheduled call between the British Prime Minister, a key member of NATO, and Vladimir Putin could not proceed because the Prime Minister is in the House of Commons arguing about birthday cake.
“That really is a wake-up call I do think to a lot of folks.”
This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays at 10am.
