Mark Labbett holds head in his hands over The Chase player’s error: 'Game over'
MARK LABBETT was left holding his head in his hands during Friday's edition of The Chase as a contestant made a fundamental error when it came to answering a question about legendary rock star, Meat Loaf.
The Chase: Mark Labbett shocked at contestant's Meatloaf error
Mark, 54, also known as The Beast, was the quizmaster a fresh quartet of contestants had to face if they wanted to walk away from The Chase with a share of the jackpot prize. The general knowledge guru seemed to be on his A-game as host Bradley Walsh, 60, welcomed him to the show. When it came to answering a Meat Loaf related question, the ITV quizzer seemed confident he knew the answer and was sure a particular contestant would, too. However, he was left in utter disbelief when they tripped themselves up.
Player Alison seemed a strong contender to make it through to the Final Chase after accumulating £8,000 during her cash-builder round.
As her head-to-head with Mark got underway, the maths tutor was on a roll but she hit a hurdle when it came to music.
The question the pair were asked read: “What word appears in the titles of five Top 10 albums by Meat Loaf?”
Hades, Heaven or Hell, were the three choices available for the answer, with the latter being the correct response Bradley was looking for.
However, The Beast was baffled when the player decided to lock in the guess of Heaven, which was clearly incorrect.

After a brief period of silence following the reveal of Alison’s answer, Mark remarked: “Seriously?” after holding his head in his hands.
Bradley then asked for the correct response to be lit up in green, with Hell illuminating and The Beast opting for the right answer.
Having caught up to the player but realising there was still one question to go, the quizmaster commented: “I thought that was game over”.
The maths tutor realised she had made a fundamental error as she said she knew the answer was Hell in hindsight.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote of the error: “#TheChase her getting that Meat Loaf question wrong annoyed me so much.”
Another added: “Can't believe she never heard of Meat Loaf's albums with the word 'Hell' in them #TheChase.”
Whilst a third posted: “How did she not get that Meat Loaf question on #TheChase? Bog standard pop question!”
“#TheChase How the Hell didn't she get the Meat Loaf question right?” a fourth asked, with a fifth stating: “Meat Loaf - Heaven?? #TheChase.”

Unfortunately, Alison’s error meant she was knocked out the game, making her the second contestant to leave the show.
Up next was quantity surveyor assistant Amy, who managed to accumulate £2,000 during her cash-builder round.
Luckily enough, she managed to defeat the quizmaster and became the first player to make it through to the Final Chase.
Hoping he would join his fellow teammate in the Final Chase and last up to face Mark was charity fundraiser Paul.
Having accumulated £7,000 in his cash-builder round, the contestant was offered a higher amount of £78,000 but he decided to turn it down.
Though he didn’t increase the jackpot significantly, Paul did make it back for the Final Chase, which proved valuable.
Putting their heads together for the first time, both players managed to accumulate 16 points Mark would have to match to defeat them.
Although it was a tense standoff, The Beast was crowned the champion of the game, meaning the cash total of £9,00 was wiped away.
