Pointless host Alexander Armstrong stunned as stars in spat over incorrect answer
POINTLESS host Alexander Armstrong was left rather taken-aback during tonight’s celebrity edition of the much-loved BBC quiz show when Rowetta and Colin Jackson began arguing over his answer in the first round.
Pointless: Colin Jackson and Rowetta clash over answer
Today’s Pointless Celebrities welcomed eight stars of the nineties onto the show in the hope of winning big for a charity of their choice.
And it wasn’t long before it was revealed just how competitive the players were with Rowetta and Colin Jackson arguing during the very first round.
Host Alexander was shocked as they jokingly bickered over Colin’s first answer as Rowetta hinted he was cheating.
The first round asked the stars to identify a number of Phils and Phillips and Colin was first to answer.
“There’s a few on there that I know,” Colin remarked. “So we’re going to go all the way down to US golfer and I think his surname is Nicholson.”
“Phil Nichols says Colin,” Alexander repeated.
Colin quickly clarified: “Nicholson,” but Rowetta insisted he said “Nichols” first.
“No he said first answer,” she shouted. “First answer!”
Looking puzzled, Alexander asked: “What was your first answer?”
“Nichols,” Rowetta shouted repeatedly before adding: “Watch your back.”

“Rosetta!” Alexander exclaimed as Colin insisted he said “Nicholson” as his first answer.
Tony Mortimer tried to diffuse the situation laughing: “Lucky she’s not an athlete.”
“Phil Nicholson says Colin, let’s see how many of our one hundred people sad Phil Nicholson,” Alexander remarked.
Unfortunately Colin’s answer was incorrect and Rowetta found the whole incident hilarious telling Colin: “Serves you right.”
It was then brought to viewers’ attention Colin’s partner Roger Black may have been trying to whisper the answer.
Alexander’s co-host Richard Osman remarked: “But that’s exactly the sort of answer someone would give if someone was whispering the answer and they slightly misheard it.”
Colin and Roger could then be seen giggling at Richard’s remark as Rowetta chimed in: “Karma!”
Unfortunately for Colin and Roger they were knocked out in the first round after both their answers scored 100 points.
Rowetta and Tony were booted off in the second round with Chesney Hawkes and Kirsten O’Brien making it to the final round.
But it wasn’t to be as the pair failed to find a pointless answer and win the jackpot prize.
Pointless airs weekdays on BBC One at 5.15pm.
