GMB: Madeley cuts off guest during climate change debate
Richard, 63, was joined by Kate Garraway, 52, to host Good Morning Britain today alongside news reporter Charlotte Hawkins, 44.
Among the topics discussed on the ITV show this morning was the matter of the UK becoming more of a tourist destination as climate change makes the nation’s weather more mediterranean.
To debate the matter, the presenters were joined by former weather forecaster Bill Giles OBE, 79, and climate change activist, Zion Lights.
After Bill made the point the UK will become much hotter in the near future, therefore becoming more of a holiday destination, Zion joined the conversation but was halted by Richard.
Let her speak
Zion was disagreeing with Bill’s sentiment, believing an influx of holiday makers was unlikely, but the nation should prepare for hotter temperatures.
“It’s impossible to reverse climate change. There’s no consensus it’s too late.
“I really think any discussion about climate crisis should be on that reversal. What kind of future are our children going to face,” Zion said.
Taking to Twitter, viewers weren’t too happy with Richard constantly interjecting into the conversation and cutting off Zion.
One posted: “#gmb let her speak dammit!! We are destroying the planet and all they care about is holidaymakers #climatechange #Unbelievable.”
Another added: “Good Work #GMB. Get 2 guests on to discuss a really important issue and just talk over the female guest completely when she is trying to present facts. Waste of time.”

A third wrote: “#GMB Oops! Turns out Bill’s actually making sense... so Richard is now trying to squeeze an argument out of it.”
Whilst a fourth stated: “I quite like Richard Madeley but maybe he shouldn’t join in #GMB.”
Richard offered a different opinion to Zion’s regarding climate change, stating maybe people should look to the positives.
Referencing World War II, Richard said: “You find people who lived through it who will say the country came together.
“There were so much social positives to come out of World War II, that’s the analogy I’m trying to make.”
GMB: Kate Garraway grills Robert Buckland on prison places
The politician was discussing the matter of more prison places being created in the coming years, to which both Richard and Kate constantly asked how the concept was being paid for.
Regarding the presenters’ interview technique, one viewer posted on Twitter: “Richard and Kate like to hear the sound of their own voices. #GMB.”
Another added: “FFS these two sound like parents grilling their naughty child #GMB.”
Offering a different perspective, a third commented: “It's their job to put them under scrutiny and they can't answer the questions lol typical politician #gmb.”
