The Bill
WE'RE creatures of habit, us viewers, so the idea of The Bill moving to a new post-watershed slot – 26 years after it first hit our screens - may take some getting used to.
The music has changed, the title credits have been revamped, and executive producer Johnathan Young is talking in terms of “darker, grittier, more hard-hitting drama”.
And while he also talks excitedly about the chance for the show to be taken more seriously, he’s keen to assure loyal fans they won’t be subjected to a sudden injection of gratuitous swearing or nudity.
This first story (it’s a two-parter, tonight and tomorrow, but as of next week it’s just Thursdays) focuses on the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy and the hunt for his killer.
