How the Lyons family are related in Years and Years
The matriarch of the Lyons family is Muriel Deacon (Anne Reid), whose birthday get-togethers allow Years and Years to jump forward in time.
Muriel is the grandmother to four children, whose parents died at some unspecified point before the start of the series.
The four Lyons siblings are, in descending order of age:
Stephen Lyons - Rory Kinnear
Stephen Lyons is the eldest of the siblings and the only one who lives outside of Manchester.
In the first and second episodes of Years and Years, he works as a financial advisor in London.
There, he lives with wife Celeste Bisme-Lyons (T’Nia Miller) and their two daughters Bethany (Lydia West) and Ruby (Jade Alleyne).
Edith Lyons - Jessica Hynes
Next eldest is political activist Edith, who returns to the family in episode two after time spent in North Korea.
The character is unmarried and as of episode two has no children.
Daniel Lyons - Russell Tovey
The third Lyons sibling is Daniel, a housing officer for Manchester council.
In the first episode, he gets married to Ralph Cousins (Dino Fetscher).
However, at the end of that episode, he starts an affair with Ukranian asylum seeker Viktor Goraya (Maxim Baldry).
In episode two, the pair are a couple and Daniel and Ralph are separated.
Rosie Lyons - Ruth Madeley
The youngest of the four Lyons is Rosie, who starts the show in labour.
Across the series, she gives birth to both Lee (Callum Woodford) and Lincoln (Aaron Ansari).
Born with spina bifida, the character uses a wheelchair throughout the series.
As of episode two, that is the entire Lyons family tree, but more characters could be added as Years and Years moves along its 15-year time frame.
