Line of Duty: Vicky McClure refuses to reveal who 'H' is
The Line of Duty season five finale will air on Sunday, May 5 at 9pm on BBC One. Twitter and other social media platforms are sure to be full of spoilers when the Line of Duty series five finale airs. Line of Duty fans, however, can block words and phrases associated with the BBC show on Twitter to prevent any spoilers before they have a chance to watch the episode.
How to avoid Line of Duty spoilers
The best way to avoid Line of Duty season five spoilers on Twitter is to mute certain words and phrases on the social media platform (or, in fact, to completely avoid social media).
To do this, log on to Twitter prior to the finale so you don’t accidentally see a spoiler on the homepage!
Go to the Notifications tab, tap the gear icon, tap Muted words and then tap ‘+ Add muted word or phrase’.
Here are some suggested words and phrases to mute to avoid Line of Duty spoilers:
“Line of Duty” and #LineofDuty, as well as the official show account @Line_of_duty and @BBCOne, who often tweet moments from episodes as they air.
The show’s stars like @Vicky_McClure, @StephenGraham73, @martin_compston and Line of Duty creator @jed_mercurio.
Key phrases from the show, like “AC-12”/”AC12”, “OCG” “H” and character names like “Arnott”, “Fleming”, “Hastings”, "Gill", "Carmichael" and “Corbett”.
Facebook does not allow you to mute phrases as of May 2019.
However, you can ‘snooze’ accounts that you think might have spoilers.
The easiest way to do this is on the Facebook Mobile app where you can click the options button at the top of an account and select snooze.
Again, make sure you do this in plenty of time to avoid accidentally seeing spoilers on the page.
However, the best thing may be to avoid social media entirely until after you have watched the episode.
After all, Line of Duty season five has been the most-watched show on British television of the year so far.
Around eight million people watched last week’s episode of the BBC show.
The first episode, meanwhile, has been watched by over 13 million people on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
As such, even the office and the watercooler may not be safe from Line of Duty spoilers on Monday.
