How did Fleabag end?
WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Fleabag season 2
Fleabag season two came to an end with Fleabag (played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge) walking away from the camera and down the road.
The scene initially seems to be a standard talking to camera moment, which has been part of Fleabag since the first episode.
However, this time, she shakes her head at the camera and walks away.
In the series, breaking the fourth wall has been Fleabag's coping mechanism, who uses humour in these to-camera moments to stop her having to process her emotions.
The ending of Fleabag season two, however, seems to suggest that she does not want to do this anymore.
This comes after the Priest (Andrew Scott) told her he had decided to stick to his religious vows rather than pursue a relationship with her after the pair had sex at the end of last week’s episode.
The pair kissed again at the wedding of Fleabag’s father (Bill Paterson) and her new stepmother (Olivia Colman).
However, the Priest was clearly in turmoil about the relationship, leading to him giving a unique homily where he talked about how terrible love was.
At the wedding, Claire (Sian Clifford) announced to her husband Martin (Brett Gelman) that she was leaving him.
She also told him that the miscarriage that broke up the dinner party in the first episode of Fleabag season two was actually hers and not Fleabag’s.
This left her to pursue a relationship with her Finnish co-worker Klare (Christian Hillborg).
She left the wedding to find him at the airport after being egged on by Fleabag.
The ending episode of season two also saw Fleabag return the statue she stole in the first series.
The small sculpture of a woman’s naked torso was last seen standing in for a businesswoman of the year award earlier in Fleabag season two.
Fleabag initially returned the statue to her new stepmother as a wedding present.
However, after her stepmother dug the knife in by saying that she had based the sculpture on Fleabag’s dead mother, she stole it back.
