Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: ‘Real shame’ Star reveals which characters WON'T meet
GAME OF THRONES viewers are preparing to see the final episodes of the show next month, and a number of character combinations never seen before - but one duo will never meet, and has left one star a little bit upset.
Game of Thrones: Trailer for highly anticipated final season
Game of Thrones sees a number of characters crossing paths in each episode.
And as the HBO series has progressed over the past decade, viewers have enjoyed seeing their favourite characters eventually interact.
Whether it is Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) finally meeting Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), or Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) crossing paths with Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham), viewers love seeing new crossovers.
Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) doesn’t see a great deal of crossover as she is usually cooped up in her castle however.
But Melisandre actor Carice Van Houten has now spoken out about her disdain in never being paired up with the matriarch during her time on the fantasy drama.
Speaking to What’s On, Carice expressed some regret in not being able to work with Lena.
She shared: “It’s a real shame there aren’t any scenes between them.
“But the storylines just didn’t come together.”
She went on to add: “It was a missed opportunity I think.
“It would have been really interesting to see hoq they got on as women, as opposed to just fighting.
It was a missed opportunity I think
“Because they’re not that different - they’re both loners.”
Although it certainly would have been interesting to see Cersei meet Melisandre and discuss her inexplicable magic powers, this interview has subtly revealed some brand new information.
Melisandre was last seen in the final episode of season seven, in which she told Varys (Conleth Hill) he is destined to die in Westeros.
However she also went on to add that she too would find her end in Westeros.
Melisandre also announced she is “done whispering into the ears of kings” - but didn’t mention anything about queens.
But Carice’s interview all but confirms Melisandre will most-likely never cross paths with Cersei in the final six episodes.
Does this mean viewers will not see her venturing across the seas alongside Jon and Daenerys?
And if so, will she be involved in any of the upcoming stories which will eventually finish the series?
Or will Melisandre simply disappear in the final few episodes?
Game of Thrones season 8 returns April 14 on HBO in the US, and the next day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
