ARROW has but a few episodes left of its seventh season, however Oliver Queen star Stephen Amell announced the show will be finishing in season eight after almost ten years on air.
Arrow: GRIPPING season seven episode ten teaser
Arrow has maintained a strong seven seasons on The CW for the best part of a decade so far.
However season eight is where the show is unfortunately going to end.
As The CW’s first DC Comics show Arrow spawned an incredible array of TV shows including The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
The show has also started the upcoming edition of Batwoman which will arrive later this year.
Oliver Queen star Stephen Amell spoke out on Twitter to reveal the shocking next step for the show.
The star announced: “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever.
“Arrow will return for a final run of 10 episodes this Fall.
“There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.”
Fans of the show - and of Stephen - were utterly devastated, and promptly began replying to the actor’s tweet with their sorrow.
One fan wrote: “OMG! I love Oliver Queen so much, I'm really going to miss the character you brought to life. Thank you for letting fans be part of the journey.”
While another agreed: “My heart is breaking! Sucks even more because Arrow has been consistently good since season five.

“You can’t say that about some other shows, but I also understand everything must come to an end. It’s really going to be hard finishing this season and going into the next final one.”
Another praised the actor by adding: “I’m going to miss the hell out of you. Thank you for being Oliver Queen and thank you for kickstarting a kickass universe.”
This season Arrow has been focussing on the Green Arrow taking on Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) alongside A.R.G.U.S.
However this week’s episode saw Diaz finally being killed off - so what will Oliver Queen’s final batch of episodes focus on?
Later this year fans of The CW’s Arrowverse will see yet another crossover between Arrow, The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).
The 2019 event has been titled: “Crisis On Infinite Earths” - which is named after a comic book event of the same name.
In the final moments of last year’s crossover event Oliver made some sort of deal with The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) - which alluded towards his death.
But will the final season of Arrow see Oliver being killed off in an enormous sacrifice?
And if so, how will The Flash and Supergirl react to his noble deed?
Arrow continues Monday on The CW at 8pm in the US, and Tuesday on Sky One at 8pm in the UK.
