Coronation Street spoilers: Shona Ramsey’s fate SEALED but Clayton may not be the killer?
CORONATION STREET’S Shona Ramsey is facing a huge dilemma as she is divided over her loyalties to her family with David Platt and wanting to protect her killer son Clayton Hibbs. However, her maternal instincts could put her life at risk.
Coronation Street: Clayton tells Shona he wishes she was dead
Shona (played by Julia Goulding) has faced a tough time of late on Coronation Street and her misery is set to continue as her son Clayton (Callum Harrison) escaped police custody in recent scenes on the ITV soap.
At the graveside of his father Dane Hibbs’ (Simon Naylor) funeral, Clayton took his chance to evade returning to to his life behind bars and instead live a life on the run, with Shona desperately worried about her son’s wellbeing.
Though her boyfriend David (Jack P Shepherd) has accepted Shona has needed to help her son, being informed his late wife Kylie Platt’s (Paula Lane) killer is now on the loose has unsettled the father and the situation is likely to put huge strain on his relationship with Shona.
However, David could see history repeating itself in upcoming scenes as Shona somehow manages to regain contact with her son and finds herself in a perilous hostage situation as Clayton turns his killer intentions towards his mother.
She can’t see her son be killed
Next week, Shona will meet up with Clayton to give him some money but little does the criminal know, his mother has informed the police of his whereabouts which leads the killer to pull the knife on his mother.
Speaking about the harrowing storyline, actress Julia Goulding, 33, teased her characters death at the hands of her son: “She is saying her goodbyes on the phone to David, she truly believes that’s it, game over.
“She absolutely, one hundred percent believes that Clayton is going to kill her,” the actress told The Mirror.
With the police armed and ready to shoot as Clayton takes his mother hostage, Shona manages to change her son’s mind when the two have a heart to heart and the killer realises the full extent of his actions.
Knowing it is her only chance to escape Clayton, although she has managed to talk him round, Shona makes a run for it but is meet by a parade of police who are all pointing their guns at the entrance to the place the killer has taken his mother hostage.
As her maternal instincts kick back in, Shona decides to run back to her son although she in the back of her mind she knows the situation could take a turn for the worse at any moment.
Julia explained: “As a mother, she can’t see her son be killed; people are pointing machine guns at her baby."
However, as one thing leads to another, Shona will emerge once again but moments later, will be cradled in the arms of her boyfriend David, mirroring the scenes of his late wife Kylie’s death several years ago.
With Clayton being talked round, could it be the police act prematurely and accidentally shoot Shona if she emerges with a knife having taken it from Clayton?
Could Shona’s maternal instincts in trying to prove her son is no longer dangerous lead to serious and delay repercussions for the distraught mother?
Viewers will have to stay tuned to see if Shona lives to see another day, however elsewhere on the cobbles, teenager Amy Barlow (Eve Mulvaney) is facing troubles of her own having recently undergone a termination of her pregnancy.
Coronation Street: Amy returns home after her termination
However, Amy has been let in a conflicting situation as on her return from the clinic, her parents Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) were jubilant as they had just purchased a home for the blossoming family, having agreed to raise Amy’s child as their own.
In tonight’s instalment, Tracy will be excited as Amy has a scheduled appointment to have the first scan for her baby.
Suggesting the women have a pamper day, Tracy treats Amy to a hair appointment at the salon where Amy comes face-to-face with Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) who escorted the teenager to the abortion clinic.
Knowing Amy hasn’t told her parents the truth about the abortion, Bethany will plead with the Amy to reveal the truth, but will she listen to her words of advice?
As Amy struggles to come to terms with her decision, it seems viewers were distracted by Tracy’s choice of language in recent scenes on the ITV soap.
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV
