Emmerdale spoilers: Jessie Grant heartbroken as Marlon Dingle makes devastating sacrifice?
EMMERDALE’S newlyweds Jessie Grant and Marlon Dingle could be set for heartbreak after tonight’s intense double bill saw the teacher leave the chef in tears. Will the pair’s marriage be over quicker than it started?
Emmerdale: Jessie has to choose between Billy and Ellis
Tonight’s double bill of Emmerdale saw Marlon Dingle (played by Mark Charnock) prepare a delicious meal for his wife Jessie (Sandra Marvin) for Valentine’s Day.
But as he was preparing dinner, his daughter April (Amelia Flanagan) asked if he had remembered a gift for the teacher.
Marlon gasped as he realised he hadn’t picked up the present he had bought and, as Jessie arrived with a gift for him, he made his excuses and rushed to the supermarket.
However, there was more trouble ahead. As Jessie waited with April for Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) to pick her up, the teacher received a call from Victoria Sugden (Isobel Hodgins).
Victoria revealed to Jessie that her sons Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and Ellis Chapman (Asan N’Jie) were arguing in The Woolpack.
Jessie rushed out of the house and warned April not to leave until Bob had arrived to pick her up.
But when she went to sort out her sons, Marlon and Bob arrived home to find April had gone.
The youngster had popped out to the shop to buy some chocolates for Jessie as she believed Marlon wouldn’t pick out a good enough gift.
Marlon was relieved to see his daughter home safe and sound but furious that Jessie had left her on her own.
The pair became embroiled in a heated argument, with Marlon suggesting Jessie should’ look after April.
“I have hundreds of kids in my care every day, I’m not some negligent parent,” Jessie said.
Marlon replied: “I’m not talking about them, I’m talking about my nine-year-old daughter that you left to go running to two grown adults.”
“We’re not getting anywhere like this,” Jessie complained. “I can’t keep saying sorry.”
Marlon sighed: “This is not how I wanted tonight to turn out or any of it for that matter.
“This, us, since the day we got married we have been stuck in this endless loop with the lads, they’re not lads and I can’t see it ending which means they will always come first with you ahead of April, ahead of me.”
Jessie picked up her coat and began to leave as she replied: “I think it’s just best I leave, don’t you?”
“Hang on, this is the part where you’re supposed to tell me I’m wrong Jessie,” Marlon hit back.
Emmerdale: Ellis says he wants Billy out of his life for good
But Jessie admitted defeat and told him: “It clearly isn’t working.”
With Billy and Ellis at each other’s throats, will Marlon make the decision to take April and leave the village for a while?
He clearly doesn’t feel his daughter is safe around the boys and his marriage to Jessie is certainly on the rocks.
Jessie would no doubt be heartbroken to discover Marlon has fled after their argument.
Can she save their marriage and resolve the issues with her sons?
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm.
