This Morning: Holly CRIES after Phil surprises her with puppies
Holly Willoughby, 37, began This Morning as usual by revealing what would be coming upon today’s instalment of the show.
However, before she had a chance to tell ITV viewers what the first item of the programme would be, her co-host Phillip Schofield, 56, interrupted her.
Revealing it’s Holly’s birthday at the weekend, members of the crew arrived on set to present the host with four Pomeranian puppies as a birthday surprise from Phillip.
The presenter was overwhelmed with emotion, shedding a tear or two by getting to have the dogs with her throughout the course of the morning.
A puppy is for life
Whilst the host was over the moon with Phillip’s gift, some viewers weren’t so happy about the ITV show allowing the young canines onto the show.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “ThisMorning rem @Schofe & @hollywills A puppy is for life not just for vacuous presenters.”
Another added: “Puppies for a day then they end up in the cut, you shouldn’t promote that s*** Holly, a dog is for life #thismorning.”
Continuing the outrage, a third commented: “#thismorning head in hands at the idiots on here who think it's so wonderful to go around giving puppies as birthday presents!”
Holly was seen with the dogs throughout the morning and later on in the show, even Phillip joked the dogs shouldn’t have been part of the show.
Listening in to his earpiece, Phillip said: “'Bit tight for time,’ says the producer.' Then why did you bring the dogs in?! You fool!”
Express.co.uk have contacted ITV for comment.
However, not all viewers were in uproar over the puppies, with some overcome with emotion about seeing the young dogs.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “The only time this morning has got it right with those wee puppies #ThisMorning.
Another added: “I have to agree with Holly. That puppy is too beautiful #ThisMorning.”
A third opined: “How cute is the puppy?! Making me want one! #ThisMorning,” with Holly also stating several times throughout the show she wanted one of her own.
This Morning: Holly and Phil recall times they've pulled sickies
Continuing the love for the dogs, a fourth commented: “I think we can all agree that @Schofe is the best friend EVER. Puppies as a present? What a legend! @thismorning #thismorning #puppypower.”
A fifth posted: “Holly crying over puppies on This Morning is relatable content to be honest #ThisMorning.”
Holly even held one of the puppies in her arms whilst she interviewed Patrick Stewart, 78, about his new film, The Kid Who Would Be King.
The pair ended up revealing they had both pulled a "sickie" in the past few years for various reasons.
