Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: 'Nightmare' Jeremy Clarkson stunned as hopeful LOSES £93K
WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? came to an end yesterday evening in dramatic fashion as one contestant lost out on a staggering amount of money leaving host Jeremy Clarkson stunned.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant LOSES £93,000
Last night’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire? saw Oli from Canterbury struggling to answer a question.
He was given the option of playing for £250,000 or walking away with £125,000.
As he hoped to pocket the quarter of a million pounds, he was given the question: “3 May. Bistritz. Left Munich at 8.35PM. Are the opening words to which novel?”
Oli was given the option of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Dracula, Heart of Darkness and Frankenstein.
What an absolute nightmare
Oli revealed he had not read any of the books and therefore was struggling to work out the answer.
He decided to ask for help and used the option of 50/50.
The ITV show then deleted two of the options leaving Oli with Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Dracula.
However, he still could not decide between the two answers and turned to the audience for more assistance.
The results showed that the majority of the audience believed Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was the correct answer.
With 81 per cent of the audience voting in favour of the John Le Carre novel, Oli took their advice.
He finally answered A for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Unfortunately for Oli and much to the surprise of the audience, the answer was incorrect.
“It’s the wrong answer,” Jeremy exclaimed.
Stunned Oli could be seen with his head in his hands as he realised he had lost a large amount of money.
“What an absolute nightmare, it’s Dracula,” Jeremy continued, completely shocked by the result.
It wasn’t all bad news for Oli however, as he left the ITV quiz show with £32,000.
The moment came after a contestant on Saturday’s show claimed many of the questions were very easy.
As he raced through a number of questions, Jeremy remarked: “You’re flying through these.”
“Well, these questions have been really easy,” the contestant quipped.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is available to catch up on the ITV Hub now.
