BBC News: Charlie Stayt SHOCKED by Naga Munchetty’s unexpected admission
BBC BREAKFAST’S Charlie Stayt was in a state of shock this morning when his co-hosts and Naga Munchetty revealed they had never seen his favourite film, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Breakfast: Naga invites herself over to Charlie's house
BBC Breakfast presenters, Naga Munchetty, 43, and Charlie Stayt, 56, were back hosting the news programme together again this morning.
The programme began with all the show’s presenters on the red sofa discussing the ten most influential films list.
Top of the list was The Wizzard of Oz, yet Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey was also on the list and Charlie was shocked to hear that none of his co-presenters had seen the film.
“Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho third, ahead of King Kong,” began Charlie.
“Space Odyssey. Some of them are more obvious than others. Space Odyssey you get because of the scale of it.”
“Cult films,” interjected today’s sports presenter.
“Never seen it,” admitted Ben Thompson.
“Never seen it!” exclaimed Charlie in shock.
“Wizard of Oz, yes, many times. Space Odyssey, no,” continued Ben.
“I’ve not seen Space Odyssey, but I think Wizard of Oz is scary,” added Naga.
This just got Charlie even more worked up as he asked Naga: “You haven’t seen Space Odyssey either?”
“Nope,” Naga replied simply, and she then added: “There are a lot of films out there. You can’t watch them all”.
“I think you guys need to organise a screening of Space Odyssey, because that is one of those films,” Charlie said.
“OK, everyone round to Charlie’s house. I just hope your sofa is big enough,” joked Naga.
BBC's Charlie Stayt says he'll buy Naga 'mead' for Christmas
The pair were commenting on a story to do with the increased popularity of mead, and Naga revealed she liked sweet drinks, and cough medicine.
“Cough medicine?” interjected Charlie.
“I like cough medicine, usually,” admitted Naga.
“That’s what you get for Christmas this year,” joked Charlie.
Naga then laughed and said: “Generous to a fault."
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
