Strictly: Kate Silverton reveals she got injured in final practice
Strictly Come Dancing star Kate Silverton and her pro dance partner, Aljaž Skorjanec, managed to make it through last week’s show despite only scoring 23 for their Argentine Tango.
The BBC newsreader managed to avoid the dance-off, yet she recently revealed it was a miracle she made it on the dance floor in the first place.
Kate appeared on It Takes Two and revealed her horrific training injury during rehearsals which could have forced her to leave the competition.
"On the Friday, about 5 o'clock, Aljaž was picking me up in the rehearsals, and he did have to whisk me around quite a bit, and I felt this pop," she cringed.
"Okay, that's not good! Then, like an hour later, [I was] sort of crawling along the corridor.
"So, basically, the muscle came off the rib.
"But we knew that we wouldn't get a chance to do it again [before last Saturday's live show], so we just pushed on. But it just was a shame,” she finished.
It certainly sounds like a very painful injury, yet she managed to push through the pain and made it onto the dance floor and through to the next week.
Kate and Aljaž have been hard at work on their Quickstep for tonight’s show, and they’ll be dancing to I Want You to Want Me by Letters To Cleo.
It seems as Kate’s recent injury has made her even more dedicated to making it all the way to Blackpool, which is now just a few weeks away.
"[It would mean] everything," she admitted to Zoe.
"Aljaž has told me about Blackpool, the sort of spiritual home of ballroom.
“Actually, just where we are now, with how much we've learned, and how much I've progressed, it would mean everything, actually.
"Our journey, I hope is not over just yet. We really must give it everything tomorrow night."
“Graeme Swann, Graeme Swann, what do you think Stacey is making of the Waltz?" asked Gethin Jones.
Strictly: Bruno tells Kate Silverton she is starting to defrost
“If she doesn't want to do it, I’ll do it with Kev,” he joked. “Oh, what a song.”
This conversation came after viewers were shown a clip from Stacey and Kevin’s rehearsals of the Waltz.
In the clip, Stacey admitted she was initially confident, but now concerned.
“I thought I would be fine at the Waltz. I thought I’ve got the ballroom, I’ll be good to go. But actually, it’s tricky,” she confessed.
Kevin added: “I’m not taking it easy on Stacey in this dance, I’m putting in a lot of complicated choreography.’
Strictly Come Dancing 2018 returns tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
