Strictly Come Dancing 2018: Danny John Jules faces major problems after Amy Dowden injury?
STRICTLY COME DANCING 2018 star Danny John Jules and his partner Amy Dowden could be facing possible elimination this weekend as the professional dancer continues to have issues after an ankle injury.
Strictly: Amy discusses her ankle injury
Danny, 57, and his Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy, 27, appeared on It Takes Two earlier this week to discuss with Zoe Ball, 47, about their week in training.
BBC viewers were informed Amy’s ankle was still strapped up after she suffered an injury before last weekend’s Halloween special.
This has meant the pair have had difficulties with training for this week’s seventh live show where they will be dancing a Quickstep.
Zoe questioned Amy about the incident: “Amy’s got an injury people. You hurt your ankle. What happened Amy?”
We didn’t get to rehearse together
The Strictly professional then went on to explain what had happened between her and fellow professional Gorka Marquez, 28
Amy said: “So in the pro rehearsals, unfortunately, Gorka and I collided. Just an accident that happened.
“My heel went right on the top of Gorka’s foot, so my ankle went and I sprained it. Gorka was left with a nasty bruise too, but you know.”
Zoe then asked how she and Danny coped at the weekend to make sure they still performed their American Smooth.
“We didn’t get to rehearse together at all on the Friday,” Amy admitted, with Zoe adding: “That would make me panic,” with Danny shaking his head.
However, Amy went on to explain she thought the injury worked in the couple's favour. However, will it prove as successful this weekend?
Amy explained: “I actually think, it helped Danny because going in and out of the lifts, he was really caring.
“He was brilliant. He led me round that room beautifully and I wasn’t worried at all because I knew he would so thank you Danny.”
Danny then joked how he had to boss Amy around, stating: “I was forced to take command,” with Zoe adding: “I think you enjoyed that,” as Danny grimaced.
However, following the injury, Danny admitted he hadn’t spoken to Gorka since the altercation which left his partner struggling to dance.
The actor said: “I haven’t spoken to the gentleman [Gorka] since.”
Strictly: Danny says he won’t ‘tempt fate’ over final predictions
Danny and Amy have had a successful few weeks, with the 57-year-old landing the first 10 of the series for his Jive giving the pair a total score of 37.
However, following her injury, Amy and Danny’s routine took a knock last week as made it through Halloween with a score of 30.
The couple managed to swerve the dreaded dance-off which saw Seann Walsh, 32, and Graeme Swann, 39, in the bottom tow.
After facing the dance-off for the second consecutive week, Seann and his partner Katya Jones, 29, were the couple eliminated from the competition.
Will Danny be following in the comedian’s footsteps?
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.05pm on BBC One.
