I’m A Celebrity 2018 line-up: Soap villain set to take on the jungle?
I’M A CELEBRITY 2018 will begin later this month and the list of rumoured contestants set to enter the jungle is growing by the day. Could a notorious soap villain be heading Down Under?
A number of soaps star are already rumoured to be entering I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! with one former Coronation Street actor recently suggesting they could be entering the jungle.
Pat Phelan (played by Connor McIntyre) met his match earlier this year when he was stabbed to death by his nemesis Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) on the ITV soap.
After leaving the cobbles, Phelan actor Connor McIntyre hasn’t made an appearance on television.
However, that could all change in the coming weeks as the former soap star has revealed he would up for taking on the Australian jungle.
I’ll have a conversation about any part anywhere
Speaking Express.co.uk exclusively at the Inside Soap Awards last month, Connor was asked if he would like to take on the snakes Down Under.
Connor replied: “Yeah. We’re all guns for hire, we’re all self-employed. I’ll have a conversation about any part anywhere, for sure,” the actor continued.
Could slimy Phelan be meeting his match once more if the Coronation Street actor joins Dec Donnelly, 43, and his new co-host Holly Willoughby in the Australian outback?
Shayne Ward, 37, who played Aidan Connor on the soap as well as Alya Nazir actress Sair Khan, 30, may be completing the trio of Weatherfield wanderers.
Rita Simons, 41, who played Roxie Mitchell on EastEnders could also be taking on bushtucker trials later this month after her character was tragically killed off last year.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Rita was one of the most recognisable faces in soap before her character was tragically axed.
“She is yet to venture into the world of reality TV so it will be a massive coup for ITV to secure her.”
Away from the world of soap dramas, a host of celebrities are also in contention to join the hugely rumoured line-up.
This includes Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones, 29, who left the BBC dancing competition last weekend.
Katya was partnered with comedian Seann Walsh, 32, and the pair gained huge media attention after they were pictured kissing following rehearsals.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes originally placed Katya at 10/1 to enter the jungle, however following her exit, the dancer is now at 4/1 on their odds table.
A spokesperson for Ladbrokes said: “Seann may have ruled himself out of a stint Down Under but the latest betting suggests Katya could be jungle-bound.
Representatives for Seann recently told the HuffPost the rumours about the comedian entering the jungle were “pure speculation,” after his odds to take part were at 5/1.
This includes a terrifyingly high zip wire and a brand new house of horrors.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! returns this November on ITV.
