Doctor Who season 11 spoilers: Fans in tears as dead character returns
DOCTOR WHO fans were left in tears during tonight’s episode, titled Arachnids in the UK, after a dead character made a shock return to the BBC One series.
Doctor Who: The Doctor encounters an enormous spider
Doctor Who’s first episode, The Woman Who Fell to Earth, saw the upsetting death of Grace O’Brien (played by Sharon D Clarke), Graham O’Brien’s (Bradley Walsh) wife.
However, Grace made a return during tonight’s fourth episode of the series.
Appearing behind Graham in the living room, Grace said: “You’ll have to learn how to change the hoover bag now.
“And work out where I kept the spares. Rubbish collection is every Friday.”
I know. I know. I’ve got so much to tell you
Graham said: “I know. I know. I’ve got so much to tell you.”
Viewers instantly took to social media during the episode to reveal they were left in tears.
One viewer tweeted: “I’m crying over Graham yet again #DoctorWho.”
“Well that "I've got so much to tell you" line has got me crying 10 minutes into this episode. #DoctorWho,” posted another.
A third added: “Omg no no no no I’m literally crying so hard rn! Why am I watching this? #DoctorWho.”
“#DoctorWho aww Brad.. breaking my heart.. seriously loving this season so far!” said another.
A fifth wrote: “This episode is giving me goose bumps and the spiders haven’t shown up yet #DoctorWho.”
Other viewers took to social media to praise the writers and discuss Grace’s return.
One fan tweeted: “‘What you doing, sniffing coats?’ I wish Grace were more than a phantom. Sharon D Clarke. Top actress that got away too soon. #DoctorWho.”
“The way #DoctorWho is handling Graham and Ryan’s very human and very different experiences with grief is something else - especially the way Graham’s memories of Grace are being portrayed. Humans are the real centre-point of this series in all their wonderful, messy glory,” posted another.
A third added: “So Grace is using her ghost powers to remind Graham about the recycling? #DoctorWho.”
“Aw Graham can hear Grace, nice that it’s new dialogue from Grace and not audio clips from Episode 1 #DoctorWho #TARDIS #JodieWhittaker #DoctorWhoSeries11 #BBC #BBCOne,” said another.
A fifth wrote: “Grace no my heart... #DoctorWho #Doctorwhoday #whovian #jodiewhittaker.”
Next week’s episode is titled The Tsuranga Conundrum.
A synopsis for the episode reads: “Injured and stranded in the wilds of a far-flung galaxy, the Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan must band together with a group of strangers to survive against one of the universe's most deadly - and unusual - creatures.”
Doctor Who continues next Sunday on BBC One at 7pm.
